Thanes Sae-Tham [Tem]

Master of Management Engineer, UTS
Master of Science (Logistics), UOW
I’m an ordinary guy who was born in Phuket, Thailand. I spend 18 years in this city before I left for chance to pursue further study in Bangkok and luckily I got in. After 4 years study, I graduated from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University with Bachelor Degree of Electrical Engineering. As I say I was an ordinary guy (that includes study part as well, so don’t bother knowing what my graduated GPA was), I did things as a teenager in my ages did: volunteering, clubbing, representing university in sport, donating blood, mugging around, etc.. However after I graduated, I suddenly see a sign of the first storm. My parents were pushing me for higher education and it has to be conducted aboard. I was confusing for a month before my parents suggested me to consult with Study Overseas Centre. After a few chats through the phone, I desire to walk in with my friend (I actually talked him to come study along with me). Well, my first impression of Study Overseas Centre was P’Nee (she seems to be only one person that I actually put my mind in during our conversation, for some reason that is ^_^”). P’Nee helped me out a whole lot; from my personnel problem with parents to all those detail and documents that I need to go through (really owe her quite a lot -_-“). In the end we came up with solutions that I will grab my chance to explore the world, although my friend desired not to go.

My name is Thanes Sae-Tham but you can call me “Tem” in short. “Tem” stand for some short term of engineering technical word which I couldn’t recall (hehehe). Anyway I flew to Sydney, Australia, expected to join a month in Australian College of English. At the very first day I stepped in Sydney, believe me or not, only thing I know about Australia was Opera House (hahaha). It was a big time for me adapt myself not only to culture and life style, but Winter season as well (I know there is winter season in Sydney but I didn’t know there is no snow, always rain -_-“). During English study class, I would say it was the most relaxing and funniest time (so whoever planed to study English for long, you are making the right choice ^o^/). But for those who planed to study Bachelor or Higher, there will be a tough time waiting for you. Uni-Life wasn’t all that bad, you will study 3-4 days a week with 3 hours each day (depend on how lucky you are as well ^^). And you also got 1-2 months off normally in Summer time, so you better plan where to go. There are also many clubs that you can join; however for me I chose to join MUSCUTS (Music Society of UTS Choir). Things went well after that including some romance tales, of course (I don’t think you will interest in that, but if you do you know where to find info right ^^). I would say, I enjoyed my in and off Uni-Life. Oh I forgot to mention about my accommodation; it was an apartment with $360 rent in total exclude electricity, water and gas supply. I was living with other 2 Thai friends, they both studied Master too but different field.

After I graduated from UTS, I came back to Thailand and start to change my first plan; I suppose to finish MBA after Master of Engineering Management as a combine degree. I think I want to learn something more specific and more useful to me in term of business, so I change my direction and head toward Logistics at University of Wollongong (Sydney campus ^^). After I return to Sydney, a lot of things change. I moved out to Hurstville suburb (for your information; I used to be only Thai guy there with more than half of Chinese born local, it took you nearly half an hour by train to city). The place I stayed was a complex (or so they said), I stayed with 2 Malaysian girls, 1 Macao born girl, 1 Taiwanese guy and 1 Shi-su dog (his name is Bao-Bao!!!). Honestly it changed me completely; I was living in society that doesn’t have Thai people at all. Everyday I woke up, there were always new stuffs waiting for me to explore. For one and a half years I’d stayed there, it was a real treasure time for me. There were many things I found within these days; my buddies, my colleagues, my housemates, my cute little dog, my romance, and they shall stay beneath my memory  with me until the very last breath of mine.

Enough about my story, allow me to tell you what I believe are good and bad points of Australia that I experienced.

Well, I afraid I’m running out of pages, so I will leave this matter to P’Nee and Study Overseas Centre to tell you about all these facts ^_^ (kekeke).

Lastly I want to say if you wish to achieve something, give it a try before you say it’s impossible. And sometime you are being captive with your system and routine, so try to think and see thing out of the box and you will find yourself looking in the world with different perspective that you never ever experienced before.
